Random articles with tips’n’tricks to work with our plug-ins
NOTE: All Editor releases dated with 2024-xx-xx are now equipped with Save Defaults function in Utilities Menu. You can find more information about the function from the Editor user manual.
One of the most common topic is, how to store your hardware settings to the plug-in. Well, the answer is quite simple:
- Put in all the values to the plug-in which you need per project, ie: MIDI input and output, model specifications, device id and all that good stuff.
- Store the CHANNEL STRIP setting in your DAW.
- Now you can recall the channel strip setting, which has everything set and ready to go.
NOTE: recalling the channel strip setting will send the current plug-in patch / multi data to the hardware. But this is by far the best option to save your profile inside the DAW.
If you don’t want to send the data to your hardware once recalling the channel strip setting, just leave the MIDI out port empty and set the value in yourself when you’ve called the strip setting in your DAW.
- Choose your Virus Model.
- Set the desired Device ID.
- Set MIDI input where the synthesizer MIDI output is connected in at.
- Leave the MIDI output port empty IN CASE you don’t want to send init values to your synthesizer when strip is recalled.
- Click Settings button to open the menu….
Now if you open a new project, you can quickly open the channel strip setting “00 Access Virus C Desktop” from the DAW strip preset list and it will open the plugin without sending init values to hardware. You have to manually then select MIDI output from the dropdown menu in order to establish the connection to the hardware.
You can store any of our plug-ins default settings the same way!
I hope you can adapt this guide to your favorite DAW as well. It is pretty straight forward in Apple Logic Pro. Make a feature request to your DAW developer if it is not a built-in feature yet.
